    Up until now, tyrants’ control was limited by manpower – they could not control what they could not see, and they could not see everyone, everywhere, all the time. But with modern technology, and with laws like this, everything will change. They will know everything about everyone, all the time.

    The history of humankind is a history of domination — of kings ruling over their “subjects,” of the powerful dictating to the weak, of tyrants enslaving the masses. For thousands of years, that was the way of the world.

    Then with these words, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness,” America’s Founders did something that had never been done. They declared that our rights are inherent in us.

    Our rights are not granted to us by our government, or a king. The Declaration of Independence was not just another document, it represented a dramatic change in how we looked at the world.

    We the people own this country.

    We are sovereign.

    We are not subjects to be ruled. Rather our representatives are our servants.

    We recognized that the government does not have the authority to infringe upon our rights. Rather, the government’s job is to protect our rights.

    The President does not take an oath to protect the United States, or to protect the citizens of the United States. The President takes an oath to protect the Constitution.

    Why? Because the purpose of government is not to take care of us. It’s to protect our liberties. We can take care of ourselves as long as government doesn’t interfere in our lives.

    We are a country built on principles. We know that our rights are inherent. We are innocent until proven guilty. We embrace economic freedom so we can create better lives for ourselves and our families and society as a whole. Every citizen is equal before the law.

    These principles are the greatest achievement in the history of human liberty.

    And right now, these core principles are being dismantled, deceptively and quietly.

    How? With a new kind of law that is sweeping the country and the world. Online child safety laws. And of course, on the surface, they sound great. What kind of monster would possibly be against protecting children?

    But these laws are not really about protecting children. They do not protect children. More than this, they do more harm — to children and to all of us — than you can possibly imagine. What these laws actually build is an online digital identity — a permanent, government-recognized identity tied to everything you do online.

    An online digital identity totally and absolutely eliminates privacy and anonymity for every person. Understand this: all of our rights depend upon privacy and anonymity. Privacy is the principle beneath every right you hold dear.

    Free speech, a free press, freedom of worship, freedom to dissent: all of them depend on the ability to think, speak, interact, transact and live without being watched. Strip privacy away, and every other right falls.

    This is a fundamental change to our society, with ramifications that reach into everything. It hands the government tremendous power over every citizen — the power to see all, and therefore the power to punish anything. 

    The purpose of the US Constitution is to limit political power by creating a decentralized power structure. Decentralized power puts the power in the hands of the people. Centralized power is tyranny. This has always been true, and it always will be true.

    It is not a coincidence that these laws are sweeping the world at this moment. The same laws are appearing in twenty-five states and fifty nations at the same time — coordinated by global institutions that have published their plans in their own words, with a deadline of 2030. Alongside them come digital currencies, digital wallets, and digital tracking systems, all converging on the same point. This is not innocent.

    Once this infrastructure is built into the internet, into our devices, and into the way we pay for things, no election will dismantle it. It becomes the way the world works. And a generation raised inside it will never know what it was like to be left alone.

    I want to be crystal clear about this point: This is the most important issue facing humanity today.

    Every other fight you care about — your faith, your family, your livelihood, your country — depends on your freedom to think, speak, and dissent. Lose that freedom, and you lose the means to fight for everything else.

    The infrastructure is being built for global tyranny, and it is being pushed in your state, town and country right now.

    But the infrastructure is not finished. We have a small window of time to stand up for liberty before liberty is lost.

    I am not going to sit around and watch this happen. I want to do my civic duty and protect our law, lawfully.

    That’s the core thesis of what we are doing at Privacy Academy. We see the Kid’s Online Safety Acts as the most dangerous threat to our freedom, and that’s why we decided to create a free educational toolkit that you can use to learn, and share this message.
